Sandy Hook Standard Issue
“Sandy Hook Standard Issue” transforms a familiar childhood tool into a provocative commentary on violence and the fragility of innocence. Each piece in this series is a crayon meticulously sculpted to resemble a bullet, juxtaposing the playful, colorful medium of art with the stark, menacing form of ammunition.
The work confronts viewers with the uneasy overlap of creativity and destruction, childhood and conflict, play and danger. By reimagining crayons as instruments of potential harm, the series challenges us to reflect on the ways societal violence permeates spaces meant for learning and growth.
Vivid, tactile, and disarmingly clever, “Sandy Hook Standard Issue” turns the tools of expression into a call for awareness, empathy, and change.
